Our story
ITEDA over the years
2021
A company built to solve everyday problems
Job Ian Onyango founded ITEDA Solutions in 2021 to build software for problems he saw around him, and explored several ideas that year. The one that lasted was a simple way for chamas, Kenya's savings groups, to collect and track members' payments. It became the seed of bridGe.

Prototypes
Building the dryer, version by version
We built Versions 1, 2 and 3 of the Smart Solar Crop Dryer, each starting from what the last one taught us. Design challenges and competitions gave the work its first outside recognition.
- Versions 1, 2 and 3 built, 2024 to 2026
- Silver award and prototyping award, Efficiency for Access Design Challenge, 2024
- Winner, Tri-Continental Student Innovation for Sustainability, University of Notre Dame, 2025
- 4th place, Ideas Festival, 2024

2025
The accelerator years
ITEDA joined the 2025 cohort of the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge Accelerator Programme, run with UKRI's Energy Catalyst, and received the programme's Large Grant.

Service
Drying as a Service begins
Drying as a Service grew out of our 2026 field pilot of Version 3 in Narok County, where farmers asked for fast, reliable drying without having to buy a dryer. So we build the dryers, set them up and run them for them. Each one sends chamber temperature, humidity, battery and solar readings to our monitoring platform.

Today
Version 4, and a second product
Version 4 is being designed and built now, in two layouts, an oven and a drum. bridGe, a payments add-on for Google Workspace, is our second product. Rift Valley and Western Kenya are next for the drying service.
